You'll have to adjust the jumper settings. The jumper settings are a group of 9 little pins on the back near the power, with a little plastic bridge between two of them. On your new hard drive there should be a little map of where to move that bridge.

Seagate products are run by firmware. Having the latest firmware can improve performance and or reliability of your product. Seagate recommends applying new firmware to enhance the performance and or reliability of your drive.
